Russel Simmon’s Book Cover Contest

A few months ago, Russel Simmons posted a blog about his upcoming book, Rich, Inside and Out: A Handbook For Life. Instead of hiring someone to create him a book cover, he simply made it into a contest. Unfortunately I didn’t win but, I tried. The winner can be found at GlobalGrind.com. Here’s my submission.

F.I.R.M. Family

One of the greatest accolades my fraternity, has is the assistance of founding another fraternity. Brother Baltazar Mendoza-Madrigal assisted 17 men in creating a Latino-based fraternity in the spring of 1986, Sigma Lambda Beta, thus making us “primos.” Their sister organization, Sigma Lambda Gamma, founded in 1990, thus became our “primas.” In addition to Sigma Lambda Beta, Phi Beta Sigma assisted in the founding of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, and are the only constitutionally bound fraternity and sorority within its council, the National Pan-Hellenic Council. These four Greek organizations make up the F.I.R.M. Family, the Royal Family and the only family. To show my love, here’s a desktop wallpaper for my family. ::download allowed::

Assassin’s Creed 3

The first installment of Assassin’s Creed was set in Jerusalem. The second installment, Venice. With Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed 3 should be here soon. Ubisoft posted on Twitter an Creed-like image, hinting the next location for an upcoming AC project. Check it out.

Turtle Power

Growing up and to this day, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has to be my favorite characters. Here’s some artists expressing their love for them as well. The images can be seen at their full size by right click>view image. To see more from the artists, click on their name above the image.

Street art has always and still is my inspiration to excel in my abilities. Artist Julian Beever & Kurt Wenner are dope. Enough said.

BSU presents Miami Greek Madness

The art of stepping has been apart of predominately Black Greek organizations of the National Pan-Hellenic Council since the 80′s. In this present time, stepping is on a totally different scale. From just stepping to show off to the females, it has now turned into a cash winning experience. A myriad of step shows are thrown each year for Greeks to compete for not only bragging rights, but cash prizes as well. Florida International University’s Black Student Union chapter would like a piece of the step show entertainment and will be hosting their own. Check out the flyer, tell me what you think.

Club Promotion

As a resident of Miami, I’ve realized nightclubs run this city. With nightclubs, you need promotion, to promote you need a street team, and the street team needs advertisement; that’s when people like me come in. Club flyers can be seen all over the city of Miami. These are a few of mine that I’ve done:

PSDs to the Rescue

As a graphic artist, images is a must if you’re not taking your own field photos, and Google can be stressful. Have no fear, Official PSDs are here to save the day. Official PSDs is a user-driven, community-oriented site where graphic artists of all skill levels can come together to share resources. One thing living in Miami has taught me is that 80% of graphic art revolves around the club. 95% of the graphic art featured on club flyers include a half-naked, attractive woman. Official PSDs has a library of women you can use for your next flyers. Virtually anything you’re looking for, Official PSDs has it. Check it out: www.OfficialPSDs.com

Classics Born Again

My first video game console was the Nintendo, rectangle controller and a console that looked like something off of Star Wars.  Countless hours of blowing the cartridges of my favorite games. From Nintendo, I made my way across the video game spectrum to finally become one with the Xbox 360. I can spend hours arguing why the 360 is the best console, but that’s for another time. One of the many things that make the 360 such an excellent console, is the return of the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 video game. I was first introduced to the game when it first came out, and reunited with it last year with my roommates in the Summer. We spent hours playing that game, whether it was single player or just whooping each other. But of course, successful games always tend to continue into a series. Marvel and Capcom have confirmed they will create another installment of the series: Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of the Two Worlds. The latest installment is set to release Spring 2011. I for one is psyched about the next installment, but a con that doesn’t sit well wit me is the advancement from 2D to 3D. The 2D look of the game made the gameplay quick and a bit wild. 3D fighting games, such as Tekken, uses accurate precise movement which tend to make the gameplay slower, but the appearance of the fighters should look amazing with the way games are looking nowadays. A pro would be the addition of new characters, but it is said the list will be somewhere in the 30′s. As a Game Informer recipient, the latest article confirmed new characters, such as Deadpool, Chris Redfield (Resident Evil), and Dante (Devil May Cry). The introduction of new and old characters is the biggest anticipation of the game. As a fan, I would like to see the game have the same effect on me as it did during the 2D Era.
